Liverpool boss Arne Slot has confirmed that Federico Chiesa will be available in the next game against Southampton. The Italian is finally fit to contribute to the team and will be a part of the squad in the EFL Cup fixture.
Chiesa joined the Reds in the last summer transfer window. He was exceptional for his previous club Juventus where he was among the best players in Serie A. Liverpool paid a hefty amount for the Italian to the Old Lady.
The Premier League table leaders paid a total of 12.5 million euros for Chiesa. The winger was among the only two purchases for Liverpool in the summer transfer window. He has rarely had any playing time ever since his arrival at the Anfield stadium.
Federico has particularly struggled with fitness since summer. He has only played 18 minutes in the Premier League for Liverpool since September. The winger will be back on the pitch and is likely to get playing time in the next game against Southampton.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that Chiesa is now fit to be part of the squad. The Dutch boss said that the Italian won’t start but will still get minutes in the EFL fixture. While talking with the reporters at the AXA training centre the manager said-
“It’s definitely a moment he can get minutes. The amount of minutes is a question mark”.
Slot is still unsure if the Italian is fit enough to play full 90 minutes. He has been out of the team for almost 5 months now. If he gets playing minutes in the next game it will be a good chance to prove his potential. It is well known how the winger is a threat to opponents when he is fit and running.

The Reds are among the best in the premier league this season. they have lost just one game in the 2024-2025 campaign putting them at the top of the table. The team once kept an eight-point gap between the current title holders Manchester City.
