Federico Chiesa does not seem to be a part of Juventus’ plans under the new manager, leaving Liverpool with a chance to sign the striker. The Juventus manager believes Chiesa is not an ideal player for his system. Thus, a move to Anfield could be possible for the 26-year-old. But the Reds could face a few obstacles to get the Italian striker to their side. Chiesa’s value is around £70 million at the moment, which could be a huge amount for Liverpool. If the Reds want to sign Chiesa, they must sell a few players to free up funds. Previously, Nottingham Forest and Everton received point deductions for breaking the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules. To avoid breaching the rules, Liverpool will have to be careful of their moves in this transfer window.
The Italian striker’s season in numbers for Juventus in the recently concluded season
The Italian striker scored 9 goals and gave 2 assists in 33 Serie A appearances. Chiesa also scored a goal against Lazio FC in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final. Moreover, he was a starter in the Italy Cup finals against Atalanta. Chiesa also has the ability to help the team’s defense despite playing in the front. Although he has been excellent for Juventus under Massimiliano Allegri, the new manager feels like the Italian forward is not apt for his game style. Furthermore, Chiesa’s contract with the Serie A giants expires in 2025 and there is no discussion of a contract extension. Therefore, he could be seen exiting the Allianz Stadium. Although Liverpool are keen on signing the striker, other clubs competing for him as well. Manchester United and Roma are interested in signing Chiesa, however, unlike Liverpool, both other clubs won’t be playing Champions League football next season. Therefore, the possibility of the Italian man moving to Anfield is high.
Chiesa might get reduced game time if he moves to Liverpool
Although Chiesa is a wonderful striker, it might take him time to adjust to Liverpool’s game style. Moreover, it won’t be as easy as it seems to replace Darwin Nunez from that starting spot. The Italian striker will definitely get opportunities at Liverpool to showcase his skills but there is no guarantee of the game time he will get. However, with reports stating that Mohamed Salah could move to Saudi Arabia this summer, the Italian forward could get minutes in the front line. The uncertainty surrounding Chiesa’s starting spot at Liverpool could be a fall in the deal as the case with the other clubs is different. The Italian striker has more chances of getting a starting spot if he moves to Manchester United or Roma.
Juventus considering swap deal with Manchester United
Although Liverpool are the only club among the three to play Champions League football next season, the Serie A side are considering other options. A swap deal with Manchester United for Mason Greenwood could take place. This deal might help Juventus add Greenwood to their squad without paying a huge amount for him. Although Liverpool playing Champions League football in the upcoming season can tempt the forward, moving to Man united could give him guaranteed game time. The Red Devils have Højlund as their main forward, but adding Chiesa to their front line could make Man United’s attack threatening.
