Liverpool’s Game Plan Revealed: Michael Edwards’ First Move Unveiled

Liverpool are reportedly ready to give Michael Edwards a comeback to the Merseyside. The Reds are in a search for a new sporting director as Jorg Schmadtke has already left the club.

Despite flying on the field, there is so much to sort off the pitch. With Klopp and his coaching staff leaving, a new manager is needed. FSG believes that Edwards will come back but with a certain limitations. However, Edwards is rumoured to be in search of full control over the club’s footballing matters. It includes the choice of another sporting director to work under him.

Edwards already knows his first Liverpool move prior to return

Speaking to GiveMeSport, journalist Ben Jacobs has said that should Edwards arrive, he already has his first move planned. He said,

“Edwards would look to bring in a sporting director below him, who would likely be Richard Hughes from Bournemouth. So, if Liverpool plan to try and get Edwards and give him control, they can’t move for anybody else yet because they need an answer first from Edwards.

If he says yes, he’ll recruit for everything, including the new manager. They’ll move on to other sporting directors and continue their managerial search if he says no. So, we’ve almost got a dual process where Liverpool is looking at non-Edwards candidates for sporting director.

The summer will be a huge transition period for the club as they will enter a new era of coaching. The structure of the club will be reborn with all the hierarchy getting new faces. Clearly, there is a lot of love towards Edwards from the job he did before. If he comes back, it would be a big boost for the whole club having a trusted pair of hands in charge at a time of big change.
