Liverpool gets five glimpses into the future after penalty win against Derby County

Fenway Sports Group offered a potential glimpse into the future off the pitch for Liverpool. The Reds won against Derby County after a penalty shootout in Carabao Cup in which Caoimhin Kelleher was the hero.

He has played only 18 times for Liverpool in which four of which have been penalty shootouts. The Irishman was pretty solid in the goalkeeping department against Derby County. He made a total of six saves outside of 12 yards which is now a new club record.

The goalless draw against Derby County has definitely shown the supporters some hopeful youngsters are on their way to the first team. This was the fourth youngest Liverpool team of all time with eight players aged 21 or younger involved. Six of them started the match which shows Jurgen Klopp is fearless when it comes trusting to youth.

Liverpool youngsters have edged another shootout to keep alive their hopes of winning the 10th league cup.

Liverpool had their first chance when Clark won the ball high up the pitch. Fabio Carvalho’s cross couldn’t connect with Stewart. Another chance for breaking the deadlock came through Alex Oxalade-Chamberlain’s deflected shot from long-range pushed away by Joe Wildsmith.

Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliot, and Roberto Firmino were sent with more than 25 minutes left to play. Ben Doak became the fourth youngest player to play for the Reds in this competition in place of Carvalho.

After the full-time whistle when it came to the penalties, Kelleher made three saves, and at last, Elliot sent his team into the fourth round.
