It was a quiet summer transfer window for Liverpool. While the other Premier League sides made huge signings, Liverpool were far behind in the transfer market. Teams like Chelsea, Brighton, Manchester United, and West Ham United have spent huge amounts of money in the summer transfer window. However, Liverpool were not involved in the market for a long time, before the Reds signed Italian winger, Federico Chiesa, and goalkeeper, Giorgi Mamardashvili, just before the closure of the transfer window.
Well, the Reds are about to change this scenario in the next transfer market, which means in the January transfer window, the club could be seen making multiple signings. Liverpool star winger and legend, Mohamed Salah, could potentially leave the club next season, which vacates the spot in the right-wing. Salah is a crucial player in the current Liverpool squad, and his departure from the club will definitely raise the question of who will be the next right winger to replace someone as good as Salah.
Last season two Crystal Palace forwards caught the attention of many big European giants. They are Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze, who showed their class in the last Premier League season. Michael Olise left the club in this summer’s transfer window to join German giants, Bayern Munich. Manchester United and Chelsea tried their best to get the Frenchman, but Bayern ended up signing him.
Liverpool could be chasing Mo Salah’s replacement
Now, Liverpool are targeting Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace. Eze scored 11 goals and registered 4 assists for Palace in 27 appearances last season. The England international has also started this season in great form, scoring one and assisting twice in the last four matches for Palace in all competitions. If Salah leaves Anfield in the next summer transfer window, then Eze will be one of the best options for Liverpool to replace the Egyptian King.
In the last three seasons including this one, Eze has been giving his best form for Palace. However, both Eze and Salah share different playing styles. Eze mainly plays on the left-wing or in the attacking midfielder position for Palace, whereas Salah mainly operates on the right-wing. Though they share different playing styles, Eze could fill the number 10 position, with new signing, Federico Chiesa, playing on the right flank.
Eze has a release clause of £68m, which will be activated from the next year. So, the question is will the Reds be willing to pay that much amount for him? Only time will tell. The Reds have had a long history of bringing players with low transfer fee, except in some cases. Premier League giants and arch-rivals, Manchester United, are also interested in signing Eze in the next transfer window, which makes the situation more complicated for Liverpool.
However, as per reports and from the looks of it, it seems quite clear that the January transfer window will not be a quiet one for Liverpool, like the summer transfer window was.
