Liverpool interested in signing Chelsea’s “star defender”

Liverpool are interested in signing Chelsea defender Levi Colwill next summer who is not satisfied with his salary. The Reds want to bolster their defence and feel that Colwill has the qualities to fit in their squad. According to reports the defender feels that he is worth more than his $127k salary.

Liverpool have not yet extended the contract of Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander Arnold. Both of them could be leaving the club next summer as their contracts end. Therefore, Liverpool might be open to freeing up those wages and signing new young players like Levi Colwill. The Reds have pursued the young defender in the past but the Blues were reluctant to sell him.

German giants Bayern Munich were also interested in signing Colwill last summer. However, the deal did not materialize due to stern rejection from Chelsea. The Blues’ will not sell the player unless they receive a mammoth offer.

Liverpool fans sweat over the future of “star trio”

Liverpool’s main three spearheads and dressing room leaders are on the brink of leaving the club next season. The club has not even initiated any formal talks of renewal for Mo Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander Arnold. According to the Athletic, if they fail to present an offer soon, these players will sign pre-contract agreements with clubs in Europe.

Salah’s recent hot form has plenty of suitors for the Egyptian. However, Arne Slot has urged the board to renew his contact for atleast one year. The manager has spoken to the press and revealed that he wants Salah to renew his contract even if it’s for one year. Clubs in the middle East and Europe could be interested in offering him higher wages than Liverpool to sign him.

VVD and Trent are also facing the similar situation at the club. Spanish giants Real Madrid are interested a desperate need for a right back and they’ve chosen Trent as the successor to Carvajal. If Liverpool hesitate and leave it late, the Los Blancos will swoop in for the Scouse fullback.

Van Dijk has previously expressed his desire to continue at the club until he feels he has gone past his peak. He wants to lead Liverpool as their captain further and has ruled out to joining any other Premier league club in the future. However, a clap doesn’t make a sound with one hand. If Liverpool do not initiate talks, their skipper could also be on the way out of Merseyside.

Who will replace the “star trio” if they leave Merseyside next season?

Liverpool are definitely planning something if they end up not renewing VVD, Salah and Trent. Who are going to replace these crucial players? Let’s have a look:

I feel that Liverpool have already found the replacement for Trent Alexander Arnold. It’s none other than Connor Bradley. The young lad has impressed football viewers all across the world after his stellar performance against Real Madrid. He kept Kylian Mbappe in his pockets and displayed the grit of a proper Brexit defender. He’s the one for the future.

Liverpool must sign a new recruit if they want to replace Virgil Van Dijk. He brings leadership qualities and excellent service at the backline. Replacing him will be a massive mountain to climb. I feel that is why they’re looking to sign Levi Colwill. The Englishman isn’t the tallest defender but he’s very solid on the ball and is a leader on the pitch. He is also very young which will help him improve with every passing season.

The most difficult player to replace will be Mo Salah. The Egyptian king has been the top performer for Liverpool this season. He has rescued Liverpool and earned points from several occasions. They have signed Chiesa from Juventus this season, but he hasn’t really impressed the manager and made the cut into the starting eleven. This is the reason, why Arne Slot is constantly urging the board and Salah to renew his contact for atleast one year more.
