Jurgen Klopp is eyeing to sign West Ham United superstar and captain Declan Rice. Rice’s contract runs till the end of the 2025 season.

According to several reports, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants Declan Rice at Anfield. Klopp wants the defensive midfielder to bolster his midfield options. The German is a big fan of the West Ham captain and has spoken highly on every occasion. Rice would easily fit into the Liverpool team as the Liverpool midfield is aging and requires some new blood. Moreover, Klopp would be hoping to replicate his transfer market form. FSG, The Liverpool owner are highly unlikely to support Klopp with funds in the summer.

West Ham United have increased the price for the midfielder from 100m to 150m this season and with a contract till 2025, It is easy to understand why. Liverpool, however, faces stiff competition from the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea. Rice has been phenomenal this season defensively for West Ham. In his 28 appearances, he has scored once and assisted 4 times.

Manchester United: A better Option?

Manchester United are the frontrunners for Rice as they have been linked with him for some time now. United desperately need a defensive midfielder as they are leaking goals this season. United’s problems are mostly due to the lack of a proper CDM as the only proper CDM they have right now is Nemanja Matic who can only be expected to start once every 3 games. Therefore, United have to use two players in a single spot with Mctominay and Fred playing as double pivots. However, they have done a horrible job this season and United will be looking to sign Rice to change their fortune. Rice could definitely benefit from a move to the Red Devils. Rice would be able to start almost every game and will be a crucial part of a historic club.

But it all depends if the Englishman does want to move in the summer. For the time being, he will be staying at West Ham United.
