According to Sky Sports, Liverpool legend, Mohamed Salah, can leave Merseyside next season. The Egyptian forward’s contract has only one year left. Salah is currently the highest-earning player in the Liverpool squad. The Egyptian makes about £350,000 ($460,000) a week.
According to Salah, no one at the club has talked to him about a contract extension till now. After Liverpool beat Manchester United in their third game of the season, Salah expressed doubts about the future in Liverpool. Salah scored Liverpool’s third goal at Old Trafford. The Egyptian forward has now scored sixteen goals in sixteen games against the Reds’ arch-rivals.
Liverpool signed Mohamed Salah in 2017 from Roma. Salah became an instant hit and a fan favorite at Anfield under Jürgen Klopp. The Egyptian forward scored 44 goals in the 2017/18 debut season for Liverpool. Salah has now scored 166 goals in 260 games in the Premier League for Liverpool. Letting Salah go for a cheap price or on a free transfer will be a massive problem for Liverpool. Salah is still a key player for the Reds, after already scoring 3 goals in 3 games this season. On top of that, the Egyptian King has also provided 3 assists. Fans want Michael Edwards and Ricard Hughes to try everything in their power to keep the Liverpool legend beyond this season.
Arne Slot’s “Reign of Terror” has begun
Football has not seen many managers have an instant impact in their first year of managing a new club. Moreover, managing a club in the best league in the world, the Premier League, is a difficult job for even the world-class managers. However, Liverpool’s new manager, Arne Slot, has defied all the odds so far. After being assigned the monumental task of replacing Jürgen Klopp as the Liverpool manager, the Dutch manager was under immense pressure. However, three games, three wins, seven goals, and no goals conceded is a dream start for any manager.
Many football fans will argue with Manchester United having a poor run of form. However, Arne Slot is the first manager to win the first three games of the Premier League without conceding a single goal since 2007. This new Liverpool team looks ruthless, with non-stop pressing, and extremely clinical in the front. The Reds were in complete control of the game, after a bright start to the game from United.
Luis Diaz has managed to become a better finisher since last season. The Columbian scored 2 sensational goals, almost completing a fanous hat-trick against the Red Devils at Old Trafford. Diaz was just too hot to handle for the United defenders.
Tough run of fixtures ahead for Liverpool
Liverpool have a tough run of fixtures untill Christmas. After the Champions League draw, the Reds will face Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Lille, and Bologna at Anfield. Their away matches will be against RB Leipzig, AC Milan, PSV Eindhoven, and Girona. Liverpool also have a tight schedule in the Premier League facing Chelsea, Aston Villa, Arsenal, Brighton, and Manchester City. All these fixtures within a span of two months will be a big challenge for Arne Slot and his men. Liverpool look more prepared having completed the signing of Federico Chiesa on the deadline day, to add more depth in their attack. Moreover, Andrew Robertson returned after a long time from injury to give a boost to Liverpool’s defense.
Both Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold also have one year left in their contracts alongside Salah. Liverpool are expected to begin talks for the contract extension of these players. However, the players are confident about their contract situation and want to focus on winning games. This attitude reflects the mentality of the players and their trust in the club. The Reds will prepare for the Champions League in two weeks, with their first match being against AC Milan.
