Liverpool lurking around top wingers: Igor Paixao in the running!

The Reds are lining up to secure a move for winger this summer. Liverpool are monitoring many top wingers and consider Igor Paixao as a capable candidate.

Liverpool had an above average season. The Reds would go on to win the EFL Cup against Chelsea. However, they would lose the Premier League title to Manchester City despite being at the top at one point. Moreover, the Reds would finish 3rd in the league table behind Arsenal!

The Reds began the season impressively. Although, a loss against Manchester United in the FA Cup would totally derail them. Jurgen Klopp would end his final season at Anfield with just the one trophy.

New manager Arne Slot is keen to reinforce the Reds again. With plenty of coaching changes already made, Liverpool will be having a busy summer transfer window. Moreover, the Reds are eyeing players in all positions. Although, Arne Slot’s side are lurking in the market for quality left wingers in particular.

Liverpool have had some crucial players playing on the left flank including the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane. However, Barcelona priced Coutinho away in 2018 and Mane left for Saudi. Consequently, Jurgen Klopp would push the Reds to sign Cody Gakpo in an attempt to fill the void left by Mane’s departure.

The Reds also brought in Luis Diaz from Porto in 2022 to further reinforce the position.

Liverpool in the hunt for wingers: Igor Paixao top target!

Cody Gakpo has not really lived up to his expectations so far. Additionally, Luis Diaz could be leaving with PSG keen on the Colombian. Henceforth, the Reds are looking for reinforcements on the left flank.

In their quest for quality wingers, Liverpool consider Igor Paixao as a top candidate. Paixao is already familiar with Arne Slot’s coaching methods since their time together in Feyenoord.

Slot could lure the Brazilian and team up with him at Anfield once again. The 24-year old winger also spoke highly of Slot and how he will be ‘missed’. Paixao stated:

“He did an exceptional job. Just have to thank him and wish him success at Liverpool. He will be missed, but he has to keep working.”

Moreover, Paixao himself has not explicitly ruled out the possibility of joining Liverpool. When asked in about the links with Liverpool to the 24-year old, he replied:

“I’m listening and watching on social media.

 I don’t know anything, I’m just waiting.”

The Reds considering several alternatives!

Other than Paixao, Liverpool are keeping an eye out for many other top wingers. The Reds are considering Anthony Gordon as a potential replacement. Especially, after his top consistent shifts for Newcastle.

Liverpool also rate Spain’s Nico Williams highly. Moreover, his impressive season with Athletic Bilbao and Spain at the EURO has made Williams the subject of attention from a lot of clubs.

Moreover, Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is also a serious contender for Liverpool. The Georgian international has put in some stellar performances for Napoli over the recent years.

According to reports, Liverpool are also monitoring Crysencio Summerville from Leeds as an alternative. However, Chelsea are also watching the winger. The two clubs may eventually have to battle for the Dutchman.

Lastly, Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich will be willing to offload wingers. Especially, since the acquisition of Michael Olise. Liverpool could target Kingsley Coman and negotiate over a possible move for the Frenchman.

Assessing Liverpool’s options, approaching Paixao could be their best bet. Moving for Gordon, Kvaratskhelia, Williams or Coman will require Liverpool splurging big bucks. Considering they plan to reinforce all parts of their squad, these may not be the wisest of options.

Summerville could be a nice alternative. But, the Reds may as well have to engage in a bidding war with the Blues over the winger. Additionally, 24-year old Paixao is already familiar with Slot and could consider the move for the right offer!
