Liverpool might be on their way to get Ruben Amorim as new manager

Ruben Amorim is a top target for Anfield, with reports suggesting he’s leading to replace Klopp. According to the latest Mundo Deportivo, Amorim has surged ahead recently as the top choice to join Liverpool.

According to reports from the Spanish media outlet, Xabi Alonso, the Bundesliga title favorite, is to remain with Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

Meanwhile, Roberto de Zerbi, the Italian coach, has seen a downturn in fortunes with Brighton’s inconsistent form this season. Consequently, the Catalan source suggests that Ruben Amorim is in the prime position to join Liverpool.

However, several reports indicate that the Portuguese manager has a release clause in his Sporting CP contract. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, this clause is at around £26 million or 30 million euros.

What did Ruben Amorim say about the rumors?

When questioned about a possible switch to Liverpool, the 39-year-old manager chose not to comment. And thus emphasized his complete concentration on Sporting CP. Amorim said:

“Right now, I’m focused on Sporting. I’m very proud to be Sporting’s coach. We’re focused on winning titles. You’ll see in the end. I have a contract and I’m very happy here.”

With 14 appearances for Portugal in his playing days, Ruben Amorim clinched five major trophies as a manager and on his way to secure another Primeira Liga title with Sporting currently topping the table. While he boasts more accolades than Alonso and De Zerbi, whether he’s capable of succeeding Klopp at Liverpool remains uncertain. Time will provide the answer.
