Mohamed Salah and Liverpool are close to agreeing on a contract. Salah was pushing for a better contract and Liverpool have agreed to a new contract according to sources.

Jurgen Klopp was in smiles when asked about Mohamed Salah’s future. He replied that talks are still going on with the Egyptian. Klopp said,

“The decisive parties are talking to each other and that’s all I need, That’s it”.

Interestingly, Klopp said the same thing a while ago when Salah had rejected his contract and wanted a better one.

Last March, Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa was clear that there were no talks between Liverpool over Salah’s contract. As the contract situation went on, there were talks that new parties have come into play. Barcelona were rumored to be interested. However, Klopp seemed unfazed. Apparently, he was happy with the way things were heading.

According to new reports, Klopp has been pushing the American owners to extend the Egyptian contract. Even though Salah is to turn 30 next year, Klopp still considers him to be a great asset. Klopp was adamant that nothing was going to come in their way as Liverpool have 8 more Game weeks left this season. Klopp has managed to convince the owners and both parties wants to come to some kind of an agreement. However, the agreement will be only announced after the season ends.

What Salah Wants

Salah talked about his contract situation back in October after the game against Manchester United. He said,

“If you ask me, I would love to stay until the last day of my football career, but I can’t say much about that – it’s not in my hands.

It depends on what the club want, not on me.

At the moment I can’t see myself ever playing against Liverpool. That would make me sad. It’s hard, I don’t want to talk about it, but it would make me really sad.

At the moment I don’t see myself playing against Liverpool but let’s see what will happen in the future.”

It is highly probable that Salah ends up staying at Liverpool as the Egyptian loves the club. However, It is to be seen if this is a good choice as Salah is aging so is the rest of the Liverpool squad.
