Liverpool has announced the 37-man squad for their tour of Asia which began on Sunday in Thailand. The Reds play Manchester United to kick off their pre-season on Sunday. The squad of Liverpool includes their new signings Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho. However, Calvin Ramsay is not joining them as he has picked up an injury during his medical. This squad also includes many youngsters such as Harvey Elliot and Thomas Hill
Usually, pre-season tours provide us with the chance to witness lesser-known names of the club in action. This year too, Liverpool has included a number of their academy talents in the squad. This is a fine stage for the youngsters to make their marks and impress the manager.
One such individual is Tom Hill. Hill suffered a serious ACL injury last season which led to him undergoing knee surgery in September. Before this unfortunate incident, Hill was enjoying a meteoric rise through the ranks at Liverpool.
Hill’s injury in 2020 kept the player out of action for 20 months. He underwent rehabilitation in the club’s AXA Training center. Moreover, he made his comeback in May 2022 with an assist to overturn the deficit in the Under -18 match against Tottenham. Hill plays as a midfielder for the Red’s Under 18 and Under 23 teams. This inclusion is sure to boost the morale of the resilient young player
Liverpool lost 4-0 in the first game of the pre-season against rivals Manchester United. Manchester United had a strong starting line up whereas Liverpool used this opportunity to inculcate the youngsters with some experience. Both the managers made several changes to the team. United had less than 10 substitutions whereas Liverpool had 30 or more substitutions for the pre-season game.
