Liverpool reportedly wants to sign Mason Mount

Liverpool are reportedly considering to sign Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount in the summer. The reds have already enhanced Jurgen Klopp’s attacking options by signing Cody Gakpo.

Jude Bellingham is the club’s priority signing in 2023 with talks already held between two camps over a potential move. Alex Oxalade-Chambeain, Naby Keita, and James Milner are out of contract at the end of the season. Now it is Mason Mount who has gained the interest of the Reds boss.

Liverpool considering signing Mason Mount

According to The Guardian, Chelsea are increasing their efforts to make an agreement on a new contract with England International amid Liverpool planning a move for the player. There is optimism at Stamford Bridge that the player will stay despite Liverpool’s interest in him.

Mount wants Chelsea to increase the salary in the next offer. His current wage is £75,000 per week which puts him towards the bottom of the club’s earners. Chelsea are reportedly preparing a generous offer for Mount who has been in Chelsea’s academy since childhood.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Mount’s situation. In Dialy Briefing, CaughtOffside column, he said:

“On Mason Mount rumours – at the moment, I’m told that Liverpool’s top priority remains Jude Bellingham and they also follow Matheus Nunes,”

“Let’s see what’s going to happen with Mount, at the moment his new contract situation has to be clarified as talks with Chelsea have been ongoing for months.”

Mount could be an ideal signing for Klopp because of his creativity in the middle of the park which the current Liverpool side lacks.
