The English club Liverpool started the new Champions League campaign with a win over the Italian side AC Milan in San Siro. After losing their last match against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, this win was very much needed for Arne Slot’s men. However, in San Siro, the Reds showed their class and scored three goals to secure their three points in the new Champions League. Arne Slot is very happy with his team’s performance.
AC Milan thrashed by Liverpool by 1-3
AC Milan took the lead in the match just after three minutes when their American winger Christain Pulisic scored the opening goal of the match. Newly signed Alvaro Morata’s ball found Pulisic in the right side of Liverpool’s box, who took a brilliant shot, defeated Alison, and scored the opener. This is the third goal Pulisic scored this season in his last five appearances for AC Milan.
However, Liverpool turned over the match to their side after scoring two first-half goals from two of their center defender Ibrahim Konate and Virgil Van Dijk. The Reds went to the half-time interval with one goal lead in their hand. This is Van Dijk’s first goal of this new season and under the new manager Arne Slot. While on the other hand, Ibrahim Konate scored his first Liverpool goal after two seasons with zero goals for the Reds. So, two center defender turned the match in their favor. And finally, Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai scored the third goal for the Reds to secure all three points. Dominik Szoboszlai also scored his first goal of this season under the new manager Arne Slot.
Midfield masterclass for the Reds
Well, everyone gave their best in the match for Liverpool against AC Milan. Most importantly the performance of Ryan Gravenberch’s performance was very much noticeable. The Dutch international joined the Reds last season from Bayern Munich. Last season was decent for Ryan Gravenberch but this season is something different for him. The 22-year-old showed a brilliant performance against Milan. Able to handle the ball in the tight position, very quick on the feet, physically strong- an all-around performance by the Dutch international. His performance was something enjoyable to watch during the Milan and Liverpool match.
Liverpool’s midfielder looks very strong, as Argentinian midfielder Mac Allister also had a great game. The number 10 of the Reds created three big chances for Liverpool, held the midfield zone very tightly, and balanced with the defense and the offense. Same as Gravenberch, Mac Allister also showed his class against Milan and helped Liverpool to secure all three points.
Newly signed Italian winger Chiesa made his Liverpool debut after coming off the bench at the very end of the match. The 26-year-old joined the Reds on the final day of the summer transfer window and finally made his debut for the Reds.
