Moises Caicedo is in a great run of form. He was excellent during his Brighton days. As a result, Chelsea and Liverpool wanted to sign him. But, he would end up joining the blue side of London. The Reds came very close to securing a move for the 22-year-old. But, the midfielder chose to snub Anfield move. His first season at the new club wasn’t that great. But he is in fine form as of late. He continues to put in top-drawer performances for his side. Enzo Maresca is really benefitting from the control the Ecuadorian offers in midfield. He is already a regular in the lineup now.
Liverpool regret Moises Caicedo decision?
Jurgen Klopp wanted to renew their midfield. Especially after the departure of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Fabinho. At the same time, Thiago was out due to injury then. So, they were willing to pay big for Moises Caicedo. As such, they were ready to break their record transfer fee to sign him. But, he would snub Liverpool and chose to join Chelsea. Since then, the Reds haven’t really managed to find a suitable replacement.
Who will fill the void?
The Reds came close to signing Martin Zubimendi to get the job done. But, the Spaniard would also reject Liverpool. So he ended up staying with Real Sociedad. As per liverpoolecho, the Reds could still try to sign him next summer. At the same time, Liverpool already have a player doing great job like Moises Caicedo. Ryan Gravenberch is really performing under the new boss Arne Slot. He has been one of the best Liverpool players this season. There is a high chance that he could fill-in the place himself. Then, the Reds could focus on increasing depth by signing someone younger. It will be interesting to see how things turn out for them.
