Liverpool vs Burnley: Match Preview and Prediction

Liverpool Burnley, Six Sports

Liverpool take on Burnley in their second Premier League at Anfield. In the previous fixture, Burnley defeated Liverpool by a late Ashley Barnes penalty. Meanwhile, this Burnely win bought an end to Liverpool‘s incredible 68-game unbeaten home run in the Premier League.

Liverpool began their Premier League campaign with a win against Norwich City. Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah scored to seal the win for The Reds. Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah scored and also assisted the other two goals. Andy Robertson remains out of action and Kostas Tsimikas has been filling in his shoes. Moreover, Virgil van Dijk returned from his season-long injury and he looked solid.

On the other hand Burnely faced Brighton at home in the opening game of the season. Sean Dyche’s Burnley lost the game 2-1 against Brighton. James Tarkowski scored the opener. Later his goal was followed by Neal Maupay’s equaliser and substitute Alexis Mac Allister scored the late winner.

Liverpool’s current injury list includes Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson. Meanwhile, Curtis Jones can make a return from his head injury. Ibrahima Konate could make his debut for the club but obviously he won’t he starting the game.

Jurgen Klopp will want to take revenge from the last for the last home defeat. Klopp played Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner as his midfield three against Norwich. But this time over we might see Fabinho starting the game. The return of Virgil Van Dijk, Matip and Joe Gomez is a huge boost for the squad. Liverpool are the favourites to win this tie but looking at what we saw last time. It will be difficult to rule out the possibility of an upset.
