Liverpool wants to sign a Lazio midfielder with a player plus a cash bid in the next transfer window
Liverpool wants to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milenkovic-Savic who is valued at £61 million to enhance their midfield. This is according to Italian outlet CM which claims that Liverpool is ready to offer Joe Gomez as a part of the deal to reduce the offer for the midfielder. Milenkovic Savic is counted as one of the best midfielders in Serie A. Signing Milenkovic Savic will go a long way to give some depth to the Liverpool midfield. The deficiency in midfield players is one of the many reasons that explain the struggling form of the Reds.
Milenkov Savic joined Lazio in 2015. Since his arrival, he has been one of the most consistent and dependable players for Liverpool. This is evident by his 302 appearances for Lazio across all competitions. Moreover, he has had 119 goals across all competitions since he arrived from Genk in 2015. The 27-year-old player has had numerous suitors in the past transfer window. Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Juventus have expressed their interest in the player in the previous transfer window. However, Lazio refused to part ways with him and he stayed at the club. However, his contract expires in 2024 and with less than 12 months remaining, the clubs are smelling blood. Sergej is available in the market and Liverpool and the aforementioned clubs have expressed an interest in him.
Liverpool, however, has a shrewd plan to reduce the price tag of Sergej. They are ready to offer defender Joe Gomez as worthy compensation to lower the price of Sergej. Liverpool valued Gomez in the region of £30 million. The Reds are hopeful that a bid of Joe Gomez plus £30 million in cash will tempt Lazio to sell the player
