London derby face off in Premier League: Arsenal Vs. Chelsea

Chelsea Arsenal, Six Sports

This weekend the arch-rivals Arsenal and Chelsea will be facing each other in the London derby in this week’s Premier League encounter at the Emirates Stadium.

After a 2-0 frustrating and embarrassing loss in the Premier League curtain-raiser game against Brentford, Arsenal will be thinking of bringing their form back on track against UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea at their home ground on Sunday.

The two center backs of Arsenal, Pablo Mari and newly signed Englishmen Ben White for £50 million were totally off colour during the Premier League opener. The dynamic duo of Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbuemo caused a lot of problems for the Gunners backline.

The Bees’ opening goal saw the Arsenal defence fail to clear their lines in the build-up to Sergi Canos’ superb strike, yet it was the second goal of the game. The Gunners defensive frailties, as Christian Norgaard nodded home after Mikel Arteta’s men simply failed to deal with a dangerous, yet preventable, long throw.

In attack, the north london club’s center forward failed to perform during the game. But there were some positives as well for their side like the display of young playmaker Emile Smith Rowe who was a creative spark throughout, as too was the ever-impressive Kieran Tierney down the left flank.

The absence of their two main superstar strikers Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang through illness proved very costly for them. They are expected to miss this week’s fixture as well.

However, Arsenal have signed a deal with midfielder Martin Odegaard on a permanent deal following his encouraging loan spell last term. There are also rumours that the club is willing to sign Sheffield United stopper Aaron Ramsdale as well.

The situation at Stamford Bridge right now is very calm as compared to the Emirates. The Blues are currently in the best form they can. They have recently won the UEFA Super Cup and they have started their Premier League campaign with a bang. They defeated Crystal Palace very easily by 3-0.

Chelsea took the lead with Marcus Alonso’s stunning strike into the net. Second goal was scored by Christain Pulisic and the third and the final goal of the match was converted by Chelsea’s and Premier League’s debutant  Trevoh Chalobah.

Recently, Thomas Tuchel’s side has signed Romelu Lukaku for  £97.5 million, who is returning to the club. He is expected to make his debut against Arsenal on August 22, 2021. The club’s boss should also be able to recall midfield maestro Kante after his absence against the Eagles.

Probable line-ups:-

Arsenal: Leno; Chambers, White, Holding, Tierney; Xhaka, Lokonga; Saka, Smith Rowe, Pepe; Martinelli
Chelsea: Mendy; Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger; James, Kante, Jorginho, Chilwell; Mount, Werner, Lukaku
