Luca Pellegrini has officially made the switch from Juventus to Frankfurt on a season-long loan deal. This comes after Filip Kostic moved in the opposite direction.
The 23-year-old made 15 Serie A starts last season. However, the arrival of Filip Kostic, who signed from Frankfurt on a permanent transfer that will cost the Bianconeri almost €15 million, would reduce his chances of playing time. It was agreed that Pellegrini would go in the other direction to sweeten the deal and facilitate Kostic moving to Turin.
Kostic has proven his class for the last couple of seasons. He really shined in the Europa League win for Frankfurt last season. This attracted many top clubs toward him, but Juventus are the ones who finally got the deal over the line.
Kostic has proven to be a menace in a left-wingback role. His chance creation numbers are exemplary, and he fits in like a glove for any team that employs a back-five formation.
With the arrival of Kostic, it is likely that he will take the starting berth over Luca Pellegrini. The Italian wanted regular minutes, so he will head out on loan.
Pellegrini and his time at Juventus
The official Juventus website confirmed the move on Friday. They highlighted his contribution to the team since his arrival to the Allianz Arena for €22 million from Roma.
A starter in 15 matches he clocked up a total of 1115 minutes. With Luca on the pitch, Juve won 66.7% of their Serie A games, scoring an average of 1.7 goals compared to 0.8 conceded. Other than accumulating 54 crosses, 73 recoveries and 62 duels, Luca also provided one assist, at Venezia in December.
