Romelu Lukaku’s form at Inter Milan has caught the eyes of Chelsea and Manchester City. Inter’s 2–0 win against Crotone on Saturday mathematically eliminated Juventus’s chances at the title this season. Atalanta’s draw with Sassuolo on Sunday clinched the title for Inter with four games remaining. Reports suggested Chelsea would have broken their transfer record for Lukaku.

The Belgian international took to the streets of Milan to celebrate with Inter fans on Sunday. He celebrated “the best year” of his career with the Serie A title. Lukaku has scored 21 goals so far this campaign, two fewer than for all of last season. He is second on the scorers chart behind Cristiano Ronaldo (27).

Romelu Lukaku has already prove that he can perform in premier league. Both Chelsea and Manchester City are desperate to land a centre forward. With Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero leaving this season they would need someone to replace him with as they look to defend their title next season.

Chelsea on the other hand have had their share of problems in front of goal with Timo Werner misfiring. Olivier Giroud’s contract would end this season and Tammy Abraham on the fringes of leaving the Stamford bridge side for more game time. They looked to land a modern day centre forward who would build the press from the front and be clinical in front of the goal.

Both the clubs, Manchester City and Chelsea had identified Lukaku in their transfer window plans but suffered a blow as reported by Journalist Fabrizio Romano that he is not expected to leave Inter Milan.

Lukaku on his future

‘’I am so happy for all the Inter fans in the world, for the team, the staff, the president and everyone. It was a wonderful year for us, I am truly proud to play for Inter.

It’s wonderful and I hope to continue like this. I want to thank everyone, I am truly so happy.’’

Both the Premier League clubs would have to recourse their summer plans and move on from Lukaku who is now entering the prime years of his career.

They will still try to prise him away by tempting the Nerazzurri side by an astronomical bid amidst their financial struggles due to covid.
