Italian giants want to sign United player

Napoli, under head coach Antonio Conte, are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw during the upcoming January transfer window.

Shaw, who has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, has made only three appearances for the Red Devils. This happened due to a calf problem and subsequent setbacks. As per Footboom, Luke Shaw may continue his career in Naples from January.

Possibility of the transfer

United may be open to negotiations for Shaw’s transfer, especially considering the club’s recent acquisition of young left wing-back Diego Leon and their pursuit of a more reliable player in that position.

The existing positive relationship between the two clubs, established during Scott McTominay’s move to Napoli last summer, could facilitate discussions.

TeamTalkNapoli’s interest in Premier League players has been evident since Conte’s appointment, with the club previously signing Romelu Lukaku and Billy Gilmour.

Shaw’s potential move would reunite him with former teammates and add depth to Napoli’s defensive options. While Shaw’s contract with Manchester United runs until June 2027, his injury history and United’s recent signings suggest that a transfer could be mutually beneficial.

Why Napoli want Luke Shaw?

Napoli have already demonstrated a willingness to recruit Premier League players under Conte, with previous signings such as Romelu Lukaku and Billy Gilmour, making Shaw a logical addition to their roster. For Napoli, signing Luke Shaw would provide much-needed depth and quality in the left-back position.

It would also reunite Shaw with former teammates and allow him to experience a new challenge in Serie A. From Shaw’s perspective, a move to Napoli could offer a fresh start and a chance to revive his career under a manager known for his tactical expertise.

However, much depends on Shaw’s recovery and fitness levels, as well as United’s valuation of the player. With the January window fast approaching, the coming weeks could see developments in this potential transfer saga.
