Mac Allister’s Adaptability Key to Liverpool’s Victory Against Brentford: Could a New Position Unfold for the Argentine?

Liverpool FC cements their position on the top with yet another win against Brentford on Saturday. The Reds ease past their opponents away from home with Nunez, Mac Allister, Mo Salah and Cody Gakpo registering goals. Now, Liverpool star Mac Allister opens up on the idea of playing in different positions.

The game was never a two-sided competition as Jurgen Klopp’s men were comfortable despite some injuries. One of the main reasons why was thanks to the performance of Alexis Mac Allister. For one of the first occasions in his Liverpool career, the Argentine was able to play in a more advanced position. With Wataru Endo providing the cover for him, the World Cup winner was more swift in going upfront.

Alexis Mac Allister on playing in different positions for Liverpool

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Alexis admitted he has been content playing the number six role, and that he would be open to playing in another different position for Liverpool.

I like it. I always say that my idea is to understand football and be helpful for the team. Wherever they need me. Six, ten or nine …I will always try my best and I’m feeling really good.”

This may be a very interesting claim from the South American as he has never played as a striker in his life. Although he scored the goal with a calm finish like a striker after Salah’s pass to him in the box. He clearly looks comfortable to play in every position he has played so far at the club. Moreover, it seems that he enjoys playing every moment for the outfit which is the most important thing. Liverpool are in a firm postion up top after Manchester City drops points in a draw against Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea on Sunday.
