Maiden Century By Smriti Mandhana

tennis player

Smriti Mandhana brought her maiden Test century and scored 127 off 216 balls. It is the highest score by an opposition batter in Australia which helped India get 276 at the end day. Mandhana is the only batter to hit the highest score in Australia. And also the first woman to hit centuries in both ODI and Test against Australia in Australia. Mandhana was in her complete control on 127(216 balls) but then just before the storm hit she got out.

The plan by the team was to use the wickets in Australia but Mandhana planned to get the best of her skills. And she had been looking forward to this game as last time she played a pink ball game. Then she also took a kookaburra pink ball from that match in her kitbag to prepare for Australia.

A hail storm hit the Carrara Oval after Mandhana got out which abruptly ended the day just like the previous thunderstorm on Day 1.

Summary Of Smiri Mandhana Maiden Century Innings

Smriti Mandhana looked pretty good while batting and was completely in control throughout her innings to reach her Maiden Century. She hurried her innings after her 80 and just completed her century in the next 25 balls.

Mandhana got out eventually at short extra cover by Tahlia McGrath on off-spin. It wasn’t a horrible shot but she got excited and then out.

In the Post-match interview later, Mandhana showed some humour and said that she was scared of hitting bad balls that reprieve.

Post Match Interview

After getting out Mandhana said, “I was like ‘what did I do?’ Why did I give a catch on a full-toss?”

But Mandhana battled like a Queen as she scored the highest score against Australia after Molly Hide’s unbeaten 124 back in Sydney in 1949. The record took more than 70 years to be broken by our cricketer own cricketer Smriti Mandhana.

And she said, “It feels great to have reached that feat.”

The innings by Mandhana included one six and 22 boundaries. A big 102-run partnership was made between Mandhana and Raut for the second wicket.

Perry bowled well and tested Raj and debutant Yastika Bhatia with her perfect swings. Perry is an inspiration too as she played her 250th match for Australia.

The match was very competitive from both sides…for more updates check out the later articles.
