Manchester City have the highest number of players representing their respective countries in the Euro 2024. Some have already started the tournament on a winning note while some were unlucky and faced defeats. Some stars have not yet started and are expected to start anytime soon. Recently City star Nathan Ake is getting all the praise for his amazing display against Poland.
Some of the City stars were unlucky to face defeats in their opening clashes in Euro 2024. However, some of the stars from Premier League side proved very effective for their respective countries. Phil Foden, John Stones and Kyle Walker all started for England and emerged victorious in their opening game. Rodri achieved similar success with Spain who defeated Croatia. On the final day of matchday one, Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva started for Portugal and were able to help the team in grabbing all three points.
Another City star who emerged victorious is Nathan Ake. Ake started the match for Netherlands against Poland as a left back. The City star was able to put on a masterclass performance for the Dutch side achieving very good stats and rating.
How good was Nathan Ake against Poland
Netherlands took on Poland in their first game of Euro 2024. Poland who were playing without their superstar Robert Lewandowski put on a superb display and were able to take a lead. Adam Buksa scored a header which gave Poland a narrow 1-0 lead. It was not long before Liverpool star Cody Gakpo levelled the score by scoring a banger from long range. Nathan Ake was able to register the assist for Gakpo’s goal. It was in 83rd minute when Ake’s cross deflected and reached Weghorst who scored the winner to bag all three points for Dutch national team.
City star Nathan Ake was superb throughout the game and was able to achieve 8.1 Sofascore rating. He was second highest rated Dutch player. Ake was able to achieve 76 touches. He completed 63 out of 64 attempted passes claiming 94% passing accuracy. The 29 year old defender was a threat for Poland whenever he went forward. Ake created 1 big chance along with 4 key passes. He claimed 1 assist for Gakpo’s superb goal. Ake also completed 2 out of 2 long balls. City’s defender was also clinical when it came to defending. Ake won 1 out of 1 ground duel and 1 out of 1 ariel duel. He also made 4 clearances and 1 tackle which was last man tackle helping his team not to concede more goals. Overall Ake has been complete package for Ronald Koeman.
Signing Nathan Ake proving worthy for City
City signed the Dutchman in 2020 from Bournemouth for £40 million. Ever since his arrival Ake has played 125 matches for Guardiola’s side. Ake has been very important for the club in winning four consecutive league titles along with treble last year. It has been reported that Ake’s market value has been increased and is at £42 million which is more than many of City’s important players.
Kevin De Bruyne who is already a City legend has current market value around £17 million which is less than what Ake’s value is. However De Bruyne’s value has dropped due to missing a lot of games last season because of injuries. Ake also has market value more than three English stars. Jack Grealish and John Stones have current market value £34 million. Kyle Walker has even less than them at just £13 million. If City decide to sell Ake, they will definately demand more than £42 million which is current value of Dutch defender.
