Manchester City can sell three first-team players which include right-back Joao Cancelo, Kalvin Phillips, and Issa Kobore. In this transfer window, City haven’t spent much because they only signed one player called Savinho. Recently, they have made a profit of £82m from the sale of Juian Alvarez.
We all know that Alvarez is a rare talent, and City also know it. That is why they are looking for a replacement for Julian Alvarez. On the other hand, City want a replacement for their world-class defensive midfielder, Rodri. The Spaniard plays every single game for the Cityzens. If they have a backup, Rodri can get some rest.
A few days ago, Manchester City were linked with Real Sociedad defensive midfielder Martin Zubimendi, but the player rejected offers from City. So, they are looking for other alternatives. That is why, City want to raise money by selling players.
Why are Manchester City selling these players?
First of all, Joao Cancelo had a bad relationship with Pep Guardiola. It seems that the Portuguese right back doesn’t follow Pep’s instructions and do things on his own. Guardiola doesn’t prefer these things in his team. That is why, Manchester City loaned out Cancelo to Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
In both of the teams, the Portuguese produced average performances. So, now Manchester City want to sell him. There is another first team player whom City want to sell, and it is the England international Kalvin Phillips. He was supposed to be the backup for Rodri, but things didn’t go well for the former Leeds United player because he suffered from injuries. That is why, he missed most of the matches.
Last season, Kalvin Phillips spent a loan spell in West Ham, but he was unable to impress the Hammers. At this moment, several clubs have shown interest to sign him which includes Everton, Fulham, and Ipswitch Town. Manchester City doesn’t want to miss this opportunity.
The list of outgoings includes a homegrown talent called Issa Kobore. The young Manchester City player plays in the right-back position. Last season, he performed well for Ipswitch Town. At this moment, Kyle Walker is the number one right back of Manchester City. So, there is no place for Issa Kobore in the first eleven. According to Manchester Evening News, Tottenham want to sign the young right back.
Future of City
After selling a player like Julian Alvarez, City are still a strong side. There are several reasons why City have decided to sell the talented Argentine. First of all, Pep Guardiola sees Erling Haland as the first-choice striker for his team. Julian Alvarez belongs to a World Cup-winning nation. So, he carries a winning mentality with him.
So, he will never want to stay outside of the pitch for a long time. Basically, Alvarez is leaving Man city due to lack of game time. As a backup striker he scored a lot of goals for City. This indicates the talent of the Argentine striker.
When Julian Alvarez was playing under Pep Guardiola, he spent most of his time on the bench. After buying him from River Plate, Pep Guardiola used him as a backup striker. So, he was getting less game time at the Etihad Stadium.
After the sale of Julian Alvarez, the Premier League champions didn’t remain silent because they have secured the signing of Brazilian right winger Savinho from ESTAC Troyes. He is a quality addition to Pep Guardiola’s side. Last season we have seen how Pep exploited the ability of Jeremy Doku from the left wing. It is being said that Savinho will be the next Riyad Mahrez for Man City.
