Manchester City planning for future without Pep Guardiola!

Manchester City are keen to build on their success in recent years even in the absence of arguably the best football manager Pep Guardiola. The Citizens are focusing on sustaining a bright future at the Etihad.

The Manchester Blues would go on to secure yet another impressive campaign. Although, not entirely to their lofty standards. Given City would only win 1 trophy this campaign. However, they would become the first team to do a Premier League 4-peat!

There are few teams in the world of football who could win a top tier league trophy and still consider the season a failure. But, credit Manchester City for setting the bar so high! The Citizens would end the league on a nail-biting finish battling Arsenal until the final matchday.

Moreover, the Manchester Blues would also impress in the UEFA Champions League drawing 3-3 against Real Madrid in the Quarter Finals. However, Pep Guardiola’s side would fall agonizingly short as Madrid beat them on penalties at the Etihad.

Additionally, City also managed to reach the FA Cup final. But, Manchester United would beat them to the silverware in a massive upset at the Wembley. Despite not having the greatest of seasons, Manchester City were a joy to watch under Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City: The epitome of Pep Guardiola’s greatness!

Pep Guardiola began his player career as a La Masia academy graduate for Barcelona. Subsequently, he would return at the Camp Nou to begin his managerial career. Initially, Guardiola was managing Barcelona B in 2007.

Soon after his appointment, the Spaniard would lead Barcelona B to Tercera Division title triumph! Followingly, Guardiola was made the manager of Barcelona’s first team in 2008. Guardiola’s tactics coupled with Barcelona’s talented players made them absolutely lethal. The Spaniard coach would lead the Blaugrana to 14 titles over the course of his 4 year reign!

Moreover, Guardiola would help Barca secure the historic sextuple in 2010! Furthermore, he would also help Messi unlock his potential to become probably the best ever player to grace the beautiful game.

After a brief sabbatical, the 53-year old took a new challenge in Bavaria. Guardiola would lead Bayern to 7 major trophies in his brief spell of 3 years! He would maintain a 75.16 win% with Bayern establishing sheer dominance.

Pep Guardiola would finally take charge of Manchester City in 2016. Since his arrival, he has led the Citizens to 17 title triumphs as of now! Moreover, he would win City their first Champions League and a historic continental treble in 2023.

Wherever Guardiola has gone, trophies have followed. The Spaniard’s style of Tiki-Taka has been highly effective for all the clubs he has managed. Moreover, the 53-year old has never been sacked in his entire career! Pep has truly set a new benchmark for managers in modern football.

Recently, Lionel Messi also spoke about the influence of Pep Guardiola! He stated:

“The Guardiola era has caused a bit of confusion. Everyone wants to play like that now. They tell 6/7 year olds to play with 2 touches, quickly.”

The Citizens Oliver Reiß as Guardiola’s rightful successor!

Oliver Reiß began his managerial career at Hertha Berlin’s youth squad in 2007. After his 17 years of service in Berlin, Reiß will be becoming the new Head Coach of Manchester City U18!

Reiß is considered to have a similar gaming philosophy to the Spaniard. Even though Pep Guardiola could be leaving Manchester City, appointing Reiß to coach young players is a fantastic move to continue playing an attractive brand of football for City.

Reports suggest that Reiß had offers from Anderlecht and Hertha Berlin for Assistant Manager role. However, he favored City U18 role instead. If all things fall into place for the German, he could perhaps one day become Guardiola’s ideal replacement for City!
