Manchester City star and Ballon d’Or winner Rodri stated that Manchester City must get into the chase for Athletic club star Nico Williams. Rodri believes that that should trail the links to sign Williams to Manchester City.
The Spanish youngster was instrumental in Spain winning the final of Euro 20204. William scored the opener against England just after the half-time opening minutes. He scored 2 goals and assisted once in the European tournament.
Rodri who collected an individual accolade from the Spanish newspaper AS took the opportunity of praising his compatriot’s brilliance. Nico was also supposed to attend this event, but he decided to train for an important match. Athletic Club will face Real Madrid on December 5th.
Rodri attended the ceremony and got into a conversation with Spain manager Luis De La Fuente and Nico William’s family. He playfully suggested that he would love to see Nico at Manchester City as the weather is similar to Bilbao. Rodrigo said-
“Right now I would take him to Manchester City, without a doubt so that he feels the cold of Manchester”.
Nico who has had a a stellar career with Athletic Club was recently linked with a move to Barcelona. Williams decided to extend his contract with Athletic as Barcelona failed to guarantee the youngster’s registration before the new season.
The 22-year-old has played 133 games in 5 seasons with Athletic Bilbao. He is currently settled in the midfield role of the team and has been clinical in his performance. He has scored 22 goals with the club with 4 goals coming this season.
