Manchester City thrashed Sevilla with a scoreline of 4-0 in their first Champions League group match this season. Citizens started the game very positively. They were attacking the Sevilla goal right from the start of the match. However, they had to wait until the 20th minute to score their first goal. Erling Haaland scored the goal with a perfect volley from close range.
City doubled their lead just before the hour mark with Foden’s well-taken effort. In the 68th minute, Haaland again got on the act and scored his second goal of the match. Sevilla created very less chances. Their only shot on target was in the 82nd minute from their winger Suso. However, that was not the last chance in the match. ERLING HAALAND IS A MACHINE FOR SCORING GOALS
The prolific Norwegian forward maintained his stunning form for City. The goals from Ruben Dias and Phil Foden were the cherry on the cake for Pep Guardiola. Manchester City are looking to finally get their hands on the European crown after near misses in recent years. Many reports have also claimed that Pep Guardiola has the best possible squad in years to win the trophy this year.
Also, if Haaland keeps scoring goals at this rate, he can be the highest scorer in the Champions League in no time. Pep Guardiola has also praised his incredible numbers. However, he has warned that the whole team should not be fully dependent on him for goals. He also said,
“Sometimes we want to rush so quick because Erling is there. You have this attraction of him, we want to attack it sometimes. We have to be more patient.”
Erling Haaland took his Manchester City to 12 goals in just 8 games. While he took his overall Champions League goal haul to 25 goals in 20 minutes. The game also saw Pep Guardiola handing starts to new signings Manuel Akanji and Sergio Gomez.
