Manchester City to poach second Barcelona target as breakout La Liga winger edges closer to move

Manchester City

Claudio Echeverri, a 17-year-old sensation from River Plate, is expected to sign with Manchester City despite Barcelona’s interest and his personal wish to play for the Blaugrana. It also appears that Savio Moreira, another of their wide targets, will be out of the Blaugrana’s grasp because of the City Football Group.

The breakout star of the season, Savio Moreira

The 19-year-old Brazilian has started all 18 of Girona’s games this season. And he has contributed nine goals for the team that is currently tied for first place in the league. Savio, along with teammate Artem Dovbyk, is arguably the season’s breakout star and is in high demand.

He is a member of the City Football Group and is currently on loan at Girona from Troyes. Fabrizio Romano reports that several Bundesliga and Premier League clubs have made offers of €30 million for Savio. Manchester City, on the other hand, is looking to acquire the teenager outright and is currently in talks to do so.

Girona will not benefit from any deal as a result, and Barcelona will not be able to acquire Savio. Sporting Director Deco reportedly considered the teenage talent as one of his top choices to strengthen the left flank the following summer. He had made contact with Savio’s camp, but it looks like he will need to focus elsewhere.

Girona will also need to work at locating a substitute for Savio. No one could have predicted his performance this season. And Els Blanquivermells won’t be able to without putting another point on a raw talent. If Barcelona’s financial circumstances don’t change this summer. They too will need to take a chance on a raw talent to sign someone with such a promising future.
