Manchester City vs Arsenal: Old rivalry returns

Today, Manchester City will face Arsenal in the English Premier League. Currently, Pep Guardiola’s Man City is sitting at the top of the table. The fans are excited to see whether Arsenal can defeat the reigning Premier League champions or not.

Last season, Arsenal fell two points short of City for the title. This time, the Gunners are pretty much determined to win the title. So, this is going to be a crucial fixture in the title race. There will be a couple of interesting matchups on all over the pitch. Raheem Sterling will be facing his former club. He will go up against City’s Kyle Walker. Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes will try his best to stop City’s powerhouse, Erling Halaand.

It can be said that Mikel Arteta has revolutionized Arsenal’s playing style. Now they play aggressive and attacking-style football in counter-attack transitions. This will be their main strategy against Manchester City. We have seen that Antonio Conte defeat Guardiola’s City with this tactic. They used to blow away City with the pace of Willian, Hazard, and Diego Costa.

The gunners have some speed-demons in their repertoire, which include Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Raheem Sterling. So, Arsenal can also play quick counter-attacking football.

Predicted Lineup for Arsenal

Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka will be crucial for Arsenal’s front-line. They have quality alternatives on the bench that include Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Jesus.

In the midfield, they have captain Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, Thomas Partey, Mikel Merino, and Jorginho. Odegaard and Rice will be crucial for Arsenal’s European campaign. Odegaard is known for his creativity. The Norwegian can penetrate opponent defense with his visionary passing. On the other hand, Declan Rice will provide a crucial link between the attack and defense.

After a solid defensive display against Atalanta, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes will be playing for Arsenal. Both of them should carefully mark Erling Halaand. If the Norgewian forward gets a pinch of space, he can punish the Gunners. Riccardo Calafiori can play in the left-back position. Arteta will entrust the right back position to Ben White.

After the departure of Aaron Ramsdale, David Raya has become the absolute first-choice goalkeeper for the Gunners. On top of that, they have signed former FC Barcelona goalkeeper, Neto, to be Raya’s backup.

Arsenal’s ambition

If the Gunners pull off a victory from this match, they will be competing for the Premier League title. Clubs like Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal will be the main focus point for this season. Three of them are playing beautiful and effective football.

On the other hand, teams like Chelsea and Spurs are lurking behind them. Although Chelsea might not win the title, the Blues can push Arsenal and Manchester City to a certain extent. Recently, Chelsea have picked up points from all of their away games. Yesterday, Maresca’s team smashed the West Ham side in their home stadium.

Match Prediction

We are predicting that Arsenal will share points with Manchester City, and the scoreline will be 2-2. Man City will be dominating the Gunners in terms of ball possession. Arteta’s team can hurt the Cityzens in counterattacks.

On the other hand, Cityzens also have some lethal wingers in their squad. With the likes of Jeremy Doku and Savinho, they will be an entertaining side to watch. After the departure of Riyad Mahrez, Pep used to play Bernardo Silva on the right wing, but it was not his proper position. Now, Savinho has joined the squad. So, they have found a proper right winger who has a similar playing style to Mahrez.
