Leicester City strengthens its position to finish in the Top 4 of Premier League as it finished Manchester United 1-2 Leicester City at Old Trafford.

It was quite clear since these congested fixtures were announced for Manchester United that they will rotate their squad. United entered this matchmaking 10 changes to their side and the whole first team was sitting on the bench.

The first half was a story about two teenage gigs. A tale of two 19 years old started with a perfect volley from the Englishmen Luke Thomas, who gave Leicester the lead which was soon countered by another teenager at the other side of the pitch as Mason Greenwood equalized for the Red Devils.

The second half saw a much disciplined Leicester side. The Foxes were dominating the position and pushing for that second goal which they desperately needed to strengthen their chance to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Manchester United was beaten for the time at their home turf in 12 matches, Which meant their neighbors, Manchester City eventually becoming the Champions of England.

The title race might be over but the race for the top 4 is very much alive. With just 10 days remaining in the League, it would be fascinating to see who can clutch on their spot in the Top 4.

After the match Leicester city coach Brendan Rodgers said

“It was a huge step [towards the Champions League]. I am so proud of the team,” said Rodgers, whose side face Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

“The players have definitely overachieved with all the big teams around. Now we can really enjoy the final at the weekend.”

On the other hand United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said

“If you want to take up the challenge with them we need to strengthen our squad,” Solskjaer said.

“The whole season has given us optimism and room for optimism but also improvement.

“We want to take the next step and it might be that we need a couple more to strengthen the squad.”

Notable Performances:

Mason Greenwood: Brilliant finish which gave Manchester United a stronghold in the first half. It encapsulates the potential greatness of Greenwood. He was sensibly substituted after an hour into the game.

Luke Thomas: A picture-perfect volleyed finish to give Leicester the lead. Although, He was not as good in the defensive aspect but did quite well to eventually get his team over the line.

Youri Tielemans: He was superb with his third-man run and cross for the opening goal. Was excellent besides as he combated United in the middle of the park but also drove Leicester forward whenever he had the chance.
