Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in signing Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy

According to reports by Fichajes, Real Madrid are open to the possibility of selling the left-back from France. Manchester United and Chelsea are two of the three clubs interested in signing the Frenchman.

The Frenchman played 35 games for Los Blancos under Carlo Ancelotti last season

He was an integral part of the Champions League and La Liga’s success. Mendy joined Real Madrid on a six-year contract from Lyon in 2019. Since joining Madrid, he has made 105 appearances with Madrid and has scored 5 goals so far.

The arrival of Antonio Rudiger has put a doubt over the future of the Frenchman

The signing of Antonio Rudiger means that Mendy has fallen out in the eyes of Ancelotti as it is most likely that David Alaba will be taking over the role of the left-back

With the departure of Marcos Alonso, there is an open slot for the left-back position at Chelsea. Lack of squad depth has been a major issue for the blues the past season and signing Mendy would provide some quality for the left-back position.

It seems likely that Chelsea have to fight Manchester United for signing the services of the Frenchman.

With Luke Shaw and Allex Telles underperforming this season, Ten Hag would be looking to bring some experience to the left-back position. With Telles reportedly leaving the Red Devils for a comeback to Porto  United need depth along the left side. Juventus are also interested in signing the Frenchman as they look to replace Alex Sandro.

Real Madrid is looking to sell if offers higher than €48m will be made for Mendy. Los Blancos paid €48m to sign the Frenchman from Lyon in 2019
