Manchester United are confident on ending their Premier League trophy drought

According to the Mirror, Manchester United are confident about ending their trophy drought said their chief, Omar Berrada. Dan Ashworth and Omar Berrada discussed the importance of making “good moves” to help Manchester United in their future success.

According to Berrada, United have made good moves this season with their new signings under Erik Ten Hag. Berrada wants to create a team not only to win the Premier League but to challenge for Champions League and Cup titles on a regular basis.

Manchester United are struggling after club legend, Sir Alex Ferguson, decided to step down in 2013. Since then, no manager has come close to winning the Premier League title with the Red Devils. Manchester United have won the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League. However, the Premier League title and the Champions League are looking like a distant dream. The Red Devils have decided to give “full backing” to Erik Ten Hag despite losing to Liverpool at Old Trafford. Berrada and Ashworth told the fans that Ten Hag is the best manager to move the club forward. Berrada explained how the Red Devils improved three main positions after the transfer window opened: center-back, center-forward, and midfielder.

Manchester United and their summer transfer business

Manchester United signed three Dutch players in this transfer window: Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs De Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui. The fans are questioning Ten Hag’s decision to continue the regime of their previous club in Manchester United. However, Ashworth explained that signing a player is both an objective and subjective decision by the higher-ups. Another important topic is the departure of Jadon Sancho, Scott McTominay, and Aaron Wan Bisaka. Ashworth told the players decided to leave to explore more opportunities with other clubs. The Red Devils have enough options in the same positions and are confident to do well without their former key players.

Jadon Sancho’s situation is a bit complicated. Sancho had an underwhelming career with Manchester United after failing to fulfill the expectations. The English winger could not find a role in Erik Ten Hag’s tactical setup. After a public disagreement, Sancho decided to leave the club on loan last season. Jadon Sancho managed to reach the Champions League final last season with Dortmund. However, the English winger’s contract did not include a buyout clause to stay at Dortmund. The German club were not ready to pay the transfer fee asked by Manchester United.

Improvement in the squad and comparisons with rivals

Dan Ashworth is confident on the current Manchester United squad. The Red Devils were able to strengthen their key areas and managed to sell appropriate players. The club have good squad depth to challenge for multiple trophies this season. Manchester United finally managed to get a team of young players and build for the future. The importance of signing Manuel Ugarte in the midfield to replace an aging Casemiro was visible in the game against Liverpool. Moreover, Erik Ten Hag is confident the players will find their confidence and chemistry very soon.

Berrada was asked about their situation compared with rivals, Manchester City. It will be a long time before the Red Devils catch up to the treble-winning team of Pep Guardiola. Berrada told the importance of making good decisions consistently to move the club forward and make progress. The goal is to become a sustainable club that is consistently challenging for all the trophies. Manchester United still have doubts over the left-back situation, after injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. The club are also trying to sign an additional striker to reduce the goalscoring duties of Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund.
