Manchester United are interested in signing Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez. The club is reportedly plotting a bid for the defender. However, United are yet to register a bid.

The Ajax defender is a man in demand. His club are holding out for a fee of around £43million. They have already rejected two offers from Arsenal so far.

According to reports, United are now turning its attention to Martinez. The defender has worked under Erik Ten Hag for the past three seasons. Lisandro Martinez is linked with Arsenal. The Gunners have recently made a second proposal of around £35 million for the Argentine. However, United are aiming to beat them to the player. Manchester United are reportedly preparing an offer worth £40m for Lisandro Martinez. Ten Hag is reportedly a big admirer of the 24-year-old. The Red Devils are yet to make a signing. However, the club is on the cusp of finalising deals for Frenkie De Jong and Tyrell Malacia.

HE IS THE PERFECT ALL-ROUND DEFENDER

Martinez has built his reputation immensely during his time in Amsterdam. In the recent season, he was sublime. He averaged defensively with an average of two tackles and 1.9 tackles per league game. The 24-year-old also has made 2.8 clearances per appearance. He also has wins over 3 aerial duels. His long passes are also very accurate. He is the perfect all-round defender. He is not one of the tallest defenders. However, he has impressed with his exceptional leap and strong physical attributes. He was Ajax’s player of the year. The center-back can also operate in either full-back positions or in holding midfield.

The transfer proposal from Manchester United for Lisandro Martinez would still be below valuation. Ajax reportedly wants £45-50 million for the defender. However, the club will be aiming to persuade Ajax by including achievable add-ons. Although, United have to beat Arsenal to the signing as they are advanced in their negotiations with the club and defender.
