Manchester United are eager to sign, Adrien Rabiot, with the midfielder’s current Juventus contract set to expire this summer. The Red Devils are looking at the 29-year-old as a replacement for Casemiro. The Brazilian is expected to walk out of Old Trafford during this window. However, the Red Devils are not the only club interested in signing the midfielder. Arsenal, and Aston Villa are also competing to add Rabiot to their squad. However, Man United are ahead in the race and they have held talks with Rabiot. A move to the Premier League could be ideal for the 29-year-old after his four year spell with the Italian club. However, along with the Premier League clubs interested in him, Juventus are also trying to keep him. The new Juventus manager, Thiago Motta is looking to hold onto the midfielder with a new deal.
Rabiot’s exit will be a blow for Juventus
The midfielder became a key player for Juventus over the years. Rabiot made 31 Serie A appearances in the recently concluded season. He managed to score 5 goals and provide 3 assists in the league. Moreover, he played four Coppa Italia games. Although the 29-year-old’s goal contributions aren’t the best, he is an important player for the club. His presence and gameplay in the midfield made him a valuable player for Massimiliano Allegri. Another factor the fans looked at was Rabiot’s connection with Motta. The 29-year-old also worked under Motta at PSG as well, which was considered an aspect that could make the player extend his stay at Juventus. However, with the other top clubs ready to pounce, the French man could exit. Moreover, the footballer revealed that his decision will be solely based on what’s best for him and not on the new manager.
According to football journalist, Fabrizio Romano, the French midfielder said,
“Thiago Motta? He’s an excellent manager, he did fantastic at Bologna. We used to play together at PSG. Thiago has his own career, I have mine… so we will see. But Juve made the correct choice with Thiago Motta.”
Although Rabiot is happy with Motta as the new Juventus manager, this won’t influence the player’s decision. Ultimately, based on how the next few weeks play out, a decision will be made.
How the French midfielder can be ideal for the Red Devils?
Manchester United have Rabiot on their priority list as they consider him an ideal player for their midfield. The 29-year-old’s partnership with Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes would be exceptional. Moreover, a midfield including these three players would pose a great threat to the opponent. Along with the French man, the Red Devils are also eyeing Bologna’s striker, Joshua Zirkzee. The 23-year-old scored 12 goals in the Serie A in the recent season. Although the Red Devils have Rasmus Højlund, the club want to sign a striker to give the Danish man competition for the starting spot. Signing Zirkzee could help push Højlund to a higher level.
