These past few days a lot of talks has been going on about the European Super league and everyone dismissed them but our suspicions have been confirmed.
Manchester United have resigned from the European Clubs Association(ECA). Ed Woodward has stepped down from his role on the UEFA Professional Football Strategy Council. Hereby confirming the exit of the club from the prestigious UEFA Champions League.
The top six clubs have now signed up to be a part of the league and offered a ‘one-time payment of the order of €3.5 billion’ . This decision has drawn widespread criticism from fans, former players and ex managers of the clubs.
Manchester United Supporters Trust on this decision:-
The Manchester United Supporters Trust disapproved of their clubs actions and said these proposals were completely unacceptable.
The fact that only self-selected wealthy top tier clubs would be given a permanent position in this league goes against everything in football and what Manchester United stands for, said the group.
GARY NEVILLE – “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH”
Gary Neville has been very vocal on this and called out Manchester United and Liverpool. He said it was a criminal act against football fans.
“Manchester United, 100 years, borne out of workers from around here, and they’re breaking away into a league without competition that they can’t be relegated from?
Honestly, we have to wrestle back the power in this country from the clubs at the top of this league – and that includes my club. Your Championship clubs, dead, your EFL clubs, dead. Your pyramid system that you’ve fought for for 150 years, gone, all because of six clubs? Absolutely embarrassing. It’s never going to happen.
Massive fines, points deductions, take their titles off them, who cares?”
