Talks between Manchester United and Barcelona over the transfer of Frenkie De Jong have reportedly reached an advanced stage. The negotiations are reportedly at a very crucial point.
The Catalan giants are believed to be open to selling the 25-year-old midfielder for the right price. This is due to their financial woes and United are leading the race to secure the player’s signature.
However recent reports claim Red Devils and Barca have reached final negotiations. There are still discussions taking place over the transfer fee. It is thought that United would be ready to pay 80 million in all including add-ons. However, Barcelona are hoping to agree a fee closer to 100million. Although, the report adds that the Catalan could be persuaded to lower the valuation to 80 million. This would be only possible if they were to receive this figure upfront.

United’s rivals Manchester City are also interested in the Dutch midfielder. One report also claimed Barcelona could offer Frenkie De Jong and some cash for Bernando Silva. This is because Xavi is interested in signing Bernando Silva. Such a deal still would be very difficult. Pep does not want to sell Silva.
He has already informed the Man City board to offer him a new improved contract. Bernando Silva is also not desperate for Barcelona. Barcelona also has to take care of its finances.
De Jong, who has been with Barcelona since joining from Ajax in 2019, recently said that he is playing for the biggest club in the world and insists that there is “no news” regarding his future at Camp Nou. Although, it looks like Manchester United and Erik Ten Hag have finally got some breakthrough in the transfer. Manchester United desperately needs a new world-class midfielder after the departure of Paul Pogba.
