Manchester United: Erik Ten Hag updates, Ronaldo role and Pogba contract situation

Erik Ten Hag is very close to becoming Manchester United manager. He is to replace interim boss Ralf Rangnick in the summer. Rangnick will move on to a consultancy role at United. Erik Ten Hag however had a lot of terms before taking the United job.

Ten Hag agrees

Manchester United have seemed to reach an agreement with Ten Hag. Ten Hag is to be the next manager and will replace Ralf Rangnick. Ten Hag has undergone a series of interviews with Manchester United officials and Ralf Rangnick. Rangnick has claimed to be impressed by the Dutchman’s footballing vision and philosophy.

However, Ten Hag had a couple of conditions. These conditions if not fulfilled would have seen Ten Hag someplace else. Ten Hag has asked for full control over the transfer. He wants to buy players that fit his play styles and sell the deadwood. He wants to transform the club and change its play style.

Ronaldo to take on an experienced role?

Cristiano Ronaldo will be likely to play under Erik Ten Hag. This shouldn’t come as a shock as the manager has used a couple of experienced players to keep the younger players at Bay. Ten Hag brought in Dusan Tadic at Ajax to bring experience into the dressing room. The likes of De Ligt, Frenkie De Jong, Van De Beek, David Neres, etc have benefited a lot from Tadic’s experience. Moreover, Tadic found his best form under Ten Hag. Ronaldo could play this role at United. Maybe, he will find his best form under Ten Hag.

Paul Pogba Contract

Paul Pogba is to run out of contract with Manchester United at the end of the season. The midfielder has been struggling this season and hasn’t been able to replicate his early-season form after the injury. Pogba is done at United and is looking to leave. However in a last-ditch effort, Manchester United have agreed to give Pogba a 500K per week contract, which would make the Frenchman the highest-earning player in the League. This new contract has received a lot of backlash within the Manchester United camp. According to sources, the players are angry at the club due to the contract.
