Manchester United loanee Brandon Williams to leave next season

Sources informed Football Insider that Brandon Williams will depart Manchester United this summer after being granted permission to seek a new club. The full-back, whose contract expires in June, spent the season on loan at Ipswich Town, aiding in their Championship promotion.

At just 23, Williams had a limited role, making only 15 appearances in the second tier this season. It’s evident he won’t continue at Old Trafford. Recent off-field controversies, including a driving ban, have also plagued him.

Amidst anticipated summer activity and changes in the United hierarchy, Williams might be among several departures, along with Casemiro and Antony. Sources suggest they are open to selling them at a loss.

Williams, with his contract expiring this summer and no new deal imminent, must start seeking new clubs. Ipswich, his current loan club, seems unlikely to extend his deal beyond this term.

Brandon Williams yet to reach the level fans hoped him to be at

Football Insider previously reported discussions about a potential buy option with Ipswich, but no agreement was reached. Despite making 15 Championship appearances, Williams hasn’t played for the Tractor Boys since December due to an undisclosed injury.

High hopes were pinned on the full-back following a breakthrough 2020-21 season, during which the club dismissed any exit talks. However, he has yet to fulfill that potential.

Persistent legal issues also tarnish the club’s reputation, and Manchester United will strive to avert further damage to their public image amidst recent controversies.
