Manchester United looking to part ways with fallen star

Manchester United are seeking to get Mason Greenwood off their shoulders and have engaged in talks with potential suitors. INEOS and Jim Ratcliffe is willing to see him leave for the right price for a player of his quality. The club’s departures will contribute to raising funds for the club. Erik Ten Hag aims to focus on problems in the defence and midfield this summer. The Red devils have engaged in discussions with French club Marseille who are interested in signing Greenwood. Juventus, Valencia, Lazio and Benfica are tracking the player aswell. They will sell Mason permanently and have set their asking price at £40 million British pounds. The 22-year old has not featured for United following charges of attempted rape, assault to his partner. After his release from jail, he was loaned to Getafe where he scored 8 goals and assisted 6 times in 33 games.

Greenwood fall from grace at Old Trafford

Mason Greenwood joined the club at the tender age of 6 and made his professional debut at the age of 17. He is the youngest player ever to play for United in the Champions league. Establishing himself in the first team, becoming a fan favourite. People of all ages were seen sporting the Greenwood jersey in the stands. As a teenager, the local lad matched Wayne Rooney’s record of scoring goals for the club as a teen. In terms of his goalscoring prowess, he has established himself as one of the most exciting young players in football. He was next great hope of Old Trafford. United’s development centres actively initiate talents on their path to the top, providing clear route of progression. As the standard rises year after year, many young talents find it tougher to shine, but Greenwood excelled at every step, standing out.

On 30th January,2022, Greater Manchester Police arrest Greenwood after his partner accuses him of multiple assaults on social media, posting evidence on Instagram. Manchester United suspended the player, stating he will not return to training or play until further notice. Nike confirmed that Mason is no longer their client. A few days later, Manchester United released a statement confirming he will leave and continue his career somewhere else. Manchester United loaned him to Getafe, where his performance unfortunately dropped significantly. Mason released a statement, he says;

“I fully accept I made mistakes in my relationship, and I take my share of responsibility for the situations, additionally it is a “collaborative process.”

This incident highlights how quickly someone’s career can fall from grace.

Manchester United monitor bids for 2 English stars

Marcus Rashford struggled significantly last season in the Premier league, which has added doubts regarding his future at Old Trafford. The club’s hierarchy is thought to be open to bids for most players. This has sparked interest from PSG, as the Ligue 1 side aim to fill the void left by Kylian Mbappe. Last season, United’s young talents Garnacho, Hojlund and Mainoo overshadowed Rashford. The Red devils are keen to restructure the team around these youngsters.

Manchester United are eager to sell Jadon Sancho, along with Rashford and Greenwood, this summer. Ten Hag does not include Sancho in his plans. United are keen to strengthen their defence and want to sell these players to raise funds. The Dutch manager wants Manuel Ugarte and De Ligt at Old Trafford this season. Their preseason friendlies begin from 15th July against Rosenborg.
