Manchester United signed Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna. The Dutch youngster had his breakout season with Bologna last year under Thiago Motta. Joshua Zirkzee helped Bologna finish in fifth place in the Serie A last year. This made sure that the club secured Champions League football for next season. Manchester United face Fulham in their opening match of the Premier League campaign. Fulham is also a very dangerous team this season under Marco Silva. They have players like Emile Smith Rowe, Adama Traore, Alex Iwobi and Bernd Leno in their squad.
Fulham were looking to pull an upset in their opening match of the Premier League. However, Manchester United manage to win in the last minutes of the game. Joshua Zirkzee who came on as a substitute scored the winning goal for Manchester United to give them all three points on first matchday. Bruno Fernandes got many chances throughout the game but could not convert any of the chances. Marcus Rashford is still struggling from his goalscoring form. Manchester United were unlucky their young striker Rasmus Hojlund was out due to a hamstring injury. Manchester United will now have to prepare for their upcoming matches.
There is no big improvement in Manchester United from last season
Last season, Erik Ten Hag was criticized for not playing proper football. The Dutch manager’s tactics were questioned several times throughout the season. After the INEOS group took over Manchester United, a cultural change in the dressing room was to be implemented. However, we have not seen any improvement in the dressing room. This is a big achievement and the English winger should get his chance to play now.

Another player who deserves credit for his performance against Fulham is Harry Maguire. The English center back was solid at the back throughout the game. However, now after signings Matthijs De Ligt, the game time of Harry Maguire can suffer as a result. Manchester United’s next two fixtures are against Brighton who just won their first match as well. Then they will face Arne Slot’s Liverpool.
