Manchester United set asking price of £70 million for Bruno Fernandes!

Manchester United are willing to consider offers from £70 million onwards for their Portuguese superstar, Bruno Fernandes. The 29 years old is currently captaining the Red Devils.

After several lackluster seasons, Manchester United fans demanded change in management. Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS’ takeover, a wave of changes shall befall Old Trafford.

However, not much has changed so far. The Red Devils ended the campaign on a historic low finishing 8th with 60 points. Moreover, a horror show at the back witnessed United conceding a colossal amount of goals. The Red Devils were absolutely torn apart conceding 84 goals in all competitions this term.

Regardless, the Manchester Reds ended the season on a high with a win against their local rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup Final at Wembley. Henceforth, Newcastle will be missing European football in the upcoming campaign.

Bruno Fernandes had vowed to give his all in the Cup Tie and stood up to his words. The 29-year old Portuguese assisted Kobbie Mainoo to double United’s lead at halftime.

Bruno Fernandes Transfer Saga: Selling isn’t guaranteed

INEOS will only be considering serious offers beginning from £70 million for the Portuguese. The United captain has another couple of years remaining on his contract and may extend for one more. Moreover, Ratcliffe and INEOS strongly believe that Fernandes is the best player at Old Trafford as of now.

Additionally, Bruno Fernandes has managed to stay fully fit and consistent in an injury ridden Manchester United roster. United would go on to endure more than 65 separate cases of injury/illness. Yet, the Portuguese would make 48 appearances this campaign. Moreover, Fernandes bagged 15 goals and 13 assists this season securing most G/A as a Red Devil.

Also, Fernandes’ influence as a captain cannot be denied. The Portuguese turned up the heat against City and spirits in United locker room were soaring. While cashing in on the 29-year old wouldn’t be a bad choice, keeping him on board could still do wonders for the Red Devils.

Why do United want to sell Bruno Fernandes?

The Portuguese wants a salary hike which would make him one of the highest paid players at the club. The 29-year old currently earns £220,000-a-week. However, he now wants a salary somewhere in the region of £300,000 a week. Additionally, the Portuguese demands clarity on club’s future management. Especially, since INEOS are still considering alternatives to Ten Hag with the speculation continuing to grow.

Moreover, Fernandes has an extremely high work rate at the Theatre of Dreams. The Portuguese will soon be turning 30 this year. United’s board may be concerned with Fernandes beginning to slow down as he will grow past 30. Meanwhile, the management can’t be blamed in this case. Considering, Casemiro and Varane’s flop show at Old Trafford after offering them a handsome contract each.

Moreover, the Red Devils can sell Fernandes for a plentiful of cash right now and invest it in young players and steer clear of FFP charges.

What lies in the future for Fernandes?

While many clubs would not be willing to pay more than £70 million for a soon-to-be 30-year old midfielder, Fernandes’ has attracted interest from several clubs.

FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich are both considering to open talks for the Portuguese. Moreover, Saudi clubs could also lurk around for the 29-year old with a lavish proposal.

Both FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich have appointed new managers. Hansi Flick’s reign at Camp Nou begins while Vincent Kompany made a surprising move to Bavaria. Fernandes could be under new management regardless of whether he moves.

Moreover, many believe that Diogo Dalot could be the next captain at the Old Trafford if Fernandes leaves. While it is difficult to say for certain where Fernandes will go, the Portuguese’s transfer saga is far from over.
