Manchester United have added Tanguy Ndombele of Tottenham Hotspur to their transfer shortlist. The Red Devils might be open to the prospect of a potential move for Ndombele if Paul Pogba does leave the club.
Paul Pogba has a year left on his contract and an extension has not been agreed upon yet. Real Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint Germain are lining up to snatch United’s academy graduate on a free transfer.
An exit is still debatable for the Frenchman. However, the Manchester United are already on the lookout for a replacement if their star-man does leave.
Manchester United could revive Ndombele
The 24-year-old Ndombele was initially frozen out of the Lilywhites squad under Nuno Espirito Santo. But, with time, he is beginning to be handed opportunities in the boiler room this term.
Nonetheless, Ndombele’s future with the North Londoners is still quite uncertain. Spurs are one of a number of sides interested in AC Milan midfielder Franck Yannick Kessie.
Colleagues in the French national team with Pogba, Ndombele was a prospect. He made the switch to Spurs in 2019 for a whopping £64,000,000. Unfortunately things have taken a turn for the better just yet for the midfielder.
Ndombele has made 77 appearances in the last two years wearing a Lilywhites jersey. In that period, he has registered a meagre 8 goals with 8 assists. Not surprisingly, an exit was on the cards this summer.
However, a move failed to materialize for the 24-year-old. He made his first Premier League 2021 start at the weekend in the club’s 3-0 defeat by London rivals Chelsea.
A fresh start might just be what the midfielder needs. Old Trafford could turn out to be the place where the Frenchman’s career takes off once more.
His contract runs till 2025 so a lot still remains to be seen.
