Erik Ten Hag is to take on the Managerial role at Manchester United. He will inherit the squad from interim manager Ralf Rangnick who will move on to a consultancy role. Ten Hag is to bring in a couple of players who fit his playstyle.
The Dutchman employs possession-based football and an extensive passing playstyle. He employs the “Tiki-Taka” philosophy. Ten Hag uses young and fast players who can move the ball forward effortlessly. He developed a number of notable players including and not limited to Frenkie de Jong, Hakim Ziyech, Donny Van De Beek, and Matthijs de Ligt.
At United, Ten Hag aims to rebuild the squad. First, he will offload the players who do not fit his vision. Secondly, he will be bringing in players who can adapt to his playstyle. According to reports, Harry Maguire, David De Gea, and Cristiano Ronaldo are not in his plans.
The First 5
Ten Hag is hoping to bring in a couple of players from his club Ajax namely Antony and Jurrien Timber. Antony is a Brazilian winger and is one of the hottest properties in world football at the moment. Timber is a center back who is quick on the ball and is able to employ a high line. Timber could be the solution to United’s problem at the back. He could replace Harry Maguire who has been in terrible form. Both players have a good relationship with Ten Hag and would probably move along with him to Old Trafford.
United have also shown interest in Everton player Jarrad Branthwaite. Branthwaite hasn’t had much game time under Frank Lampard and would be open to a move towards Old Trafford.
Enzo Fernandes is a player who has been under United’s radar for some time now. With his recent performances, United are impressed. They will be hoping to make a suitable offer for Fernandez who has a release clause of 16m.
Aurelien Tchouameni is one player Ten Hag desperately wants according to reports. Moreover, United have shown interest in Tchouameni since last year. Valued at 60m, United will be making a move for him in the Summer.
