Manchester United are set to offer captain Harry Maguire a lucrative new contract at Old Trafford. Putting him in line with the highest earners at the club.

United want to reward their captain for establishing himself as a key figure for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. Maguire currently earns £189,000-a-week with his contract running until the summer of 2025. United are prepared to offer Maguire a bumper new contract worth £300k a week at Old Trafford.

The 28-year-old has established himself as a key man at the club. Since arriving from Leicester in 2019 for a world-record fee for a defender of £80million. The 28-year-old has grown to become a vital part of the Red Devils’ defence as their skipper over the last two years.

The England star will receive a contract which matches the salaries of new club signings Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho. Handing him a significant increase from his current wage.

United hopeful of star players like Harry Maguire signing new deals

Harry Maguire is one of several players with whom the club are looking to renegotiate, including midfielders Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes. He is already one of United’s top earners. But his stock has risen since signing that contract in 2019 and the board want to tie him down for his peak years.

Maguire has chalked up five goals and five assists from 114 appearances for United in all competitions. He also has 39 international caps for England.

Maguire has been ever-present at the heart of the defence. He is currently out with a calf injury but he’s hopeful of returning to action this month. And will be hoping to strike up an effective long-term partnership with summer arrival Raphael Varane at the heart of the United defence.

United are currently in fourth place in the Premier League. United will face Maguire’s former club Leicester away when they return to action next Saturday.
