According to the reports, Manchester United will have to choose any one of between Antony and Lisandro Martinez to sign. This is because Ajax won’t allow both of them to leave this summer, ahead of the start of next season.

New Man United boss Erik Ten Hag wanted to bring both of his former players to Old Trafford with him. Also, before Lisandro Martinez, another defender, Juurien Timber was his prime defensive target for the summer. But the player himself made it clear that he will spend another season for the Amsterdam outfit.

However, according to The Mirror, Ajax are desperate for their squad not to be torn apart this summer, meaning that both Antony and Martinez will not be allowed to leave. As a result, the Red Devils will have to choose between bolstering their attack or their defence ahead of the start of the next season.

Competition for Lisandro Martinez for Manchester United

Other than that, reports also linked the Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez to Arsenal. They also mentioned that Arsenal put in a bid of £30 million for him, rejected by Ajax. The player had a great season for Ajax. In 37 appearances for them, he scored a goal and also registered 4 assists to his name. With 3 more years left on his contract, the player already won 2 Eredivisie and a Dutch Cup during his stay.

Ajax are also on the brink of selling Sebastian Haller, their standout performer in UCL last season, to Bayern Munich. They already sold Ryan Gravenberch, another first-team player to the Bavarian giants. So they might even opt out against selling any other starting-lineup players.

Several reports said that Man United officials are in Amsterdam to talk over a potential £40 million deal for Antony. The 22 year old enjoyed a great season as he scored 12 goals and registered 10 assists in 32 apps.
