Marc Casado – Barcelona Midfielder Targeted by Chelsea

Chelsea is still looking for a midfield player despite spending millions on the transfer market. Marc Casado, a graduate of La Masia, has shown himself to be a remarkable talent. Chelsea in particular is very interested in his Champions League performances for Barcelona.

Barcelona & Marc Casado

After progressing through La Masia’s ranks, Marc Casado made his first-team debut. The squad values his job as a deep-lying midfielder, which has been crucial for the first team, and he hopes to play for Camp Nou for a long time. The Athletic reports that Hansi Flick calls Casado “incredible.” He does, however, have an £83 million release clause in his current Barcelona deal.

Casado has given outstanding achievements under Flick. He is a deep-lying midfielder who has contributed six assists and been instrumental in Barcelona’s winning season.

Does Chelsea need Marc Casado?

Why wouldn’t Chelsea want a top-tier CDM who is 21 years old to play for them? Under its new American ownership, Chelsea has spent approximately $1 billion. They still appear unsteady on attack, unimpressive on defense, and are even having trouble finding a reliable goalkeeper. However, they are searching the market for another midfield player because, well, why not?

Chelsea previously attempted to sign Casado but was denied. Now, despite all the attention on him, Casado has chosen to extend his stay at Barcelona for three more years with a hefty buyout clause. If Chelsea wants to sign him, they will have to spend big. The buyout clause of €100m is all Chelsea needs to pay now.

Chelsea would love to have someone of Casado’s profile, but next summer, Caicedo, Fernández, Lavia, and Santos will be competing for the starting midfield roles.

Marc Casado at his loyalty test

Barcelona has immense faith in Casado. His rise through the ranks to represent Spain on the international stage proves his talent. Barcelona describes him as “a player who had the patience to go through all the stages.”

Casado is loyal to Barcelona. Still, the prospect of moving to and playing in the Premier League remains possible. The Premier League giants are closely monitoring him for the summer transfer window. Chelsea is currently leading the race, but other big clubs may soon join the competition.

Author’s Opinion

The idea of Marc Casado playing for Chelsea is fascinating. Fans would want to see him at Stamford Bridge. His technique and positioning in Barcelona’s system would make him an influential component of this Chelsea team, and Enzo Maresca would be thrilled to have another midfielder—especially when Chelsea is in severe need of a goalkeeper, striker, and center-backs.

Barcelona has been exceedingly protective of its academy graduates, and the results have been rewarding. As a result, they would love to see someone from La Masia take up the deep-lying midfielder role—a position that bears significant significance for the club.

The glamour of the Premier League or loyalty to the Spanish giant—what Marc Casado decides could determine his entire career.
