Marc Casado was tracked by the Blues in January
The Blues asked about the availability of Barcelona midfielder Casado during the winter transfer window in January. But their effort was turned down, as per a Spanish report.
The winter transfer market went quite silent for the Blues this time. They only made one signing in that period. They signed 19-year-old Mathis Amougou from Saint-Etienne. It was shockingly a very quiet window for the usually high-spenders of the Premier League.
Although they were busy when it came to exits from the club. The likes of Joao Felix, Renato Veiga and Axel Disasi left the side on loan.
Chelsea were still making sure that they keep adding more numbers to their squad. They were looking to add more strength to their existing group for the second half of the season. As per reports, they approached the Spanish side for Casado in January. They were searching to add more depth in their midfield options.
The West London side were interested in signing the youngster during the last summer market as well. But the player instead chose to put pen to paper on a new deal with Barcelona. That new contract will keep him until 2028 with the club.
In spite of Casado opting his future with La Blaugrana, Que t’hi jugues reported that Chelsea still asked about the midfielder’s availability during the January window.
The Blues aren’t the only team from the Premier League to have interest in the youngster. The 21-year-old has a release clause of €100 million (£83 million) in his current contract.

The English club’s approach was quickly turned down as expected. The youngster is a top talent. He was keen to stay with the club. He has been in a great touch this campaign. He is having a impressive breakout season under the German, Hansi Flick.
The La Masia graduate has played 30 games for Barca this campaign so far. He has been a great part of their midfield. He has been performing consistently for his club. That saw him earn his first senior team’s cap for Spain.
Flick has the likes of Pedri, Gavi and Frenkie de Jong in their squad at present. Casado has still given a lot of game time in the first-team. He has been getting plenty of opportunities under the German head coach. And he will continue to play a vital part for the club.

Speaking to the reporters after their 3-0 loss to Brighton, manager Enzo Maresca shared his thoughts on his team’s overall run so far.
When asked about Cole Palmer’s performance and frustration in games, Maresca said: ” I think also in one way it can show the desire of Cole to improve things but it’s not just about Cole. When you don’t win games, it’s normal they are not happy. When we win games, everyone is happy. I said it about the fans and it’s the same with the players.
“For sure, we need all of them in this moment to be more positive because this is moment where we need to stick together and finish in the correct way.”
On Palmer’s change in position, the manager said: “I saw Cole many, many times playing in that position at City, when he was with me and the first team. Tonight was not about the positions, it was different.”
When asked about their team’s performance, he added: “In terms of the way we play in the ball, it wasn’t our worst performance. The result, yeah, no doubt. We arrived in the final third but struggled to create chances.
“In this moment, the bad feeling is that we look as if we easily concede chances and struggle to create chances. We have 13 games to go and we need to finish in the best way.”

Marc Casado is determined in staying with Barcelona. The Spanish club also wants to have him in the team as he’s been great since making in to the first team.
Chelsea although have options to play in the midfield but are still searching for players. There approach has surprised a few because there’s no need to look for options outside the team, when you have plenty of them on the bench.
