Enzo Maresca and Chelsea signed 18-year-old wonderkid Marc Guiu from FC Barcelona earlier this summer. The youngster is showing signs of a bright future. Many Barca fans were actually unhappy with the club letting their rising star leave so easily. As for the Blues, the continued to sign young and talented players to bolster their squad. As you would expect, the forward did not break into the starting XI straight away. He still needs time to develop and grow as a player. As it is already, Premier League is quite competitive. So the London-based club will want to take their time before giving him a chance to start altogether.
Marc Guiu shining already
The 18-year-old forward has already made some fine appearances in the Blue jersey. He may not be a part of the first-team. But he has still managed to impress while playing for Enzo Maresca in Chelsea B team. Just recently, Marc Guiu would score his first hattrick for the club, against Shamrock Rovers in the match day 6 of the UECL. As per transfermarkt, he now has 6 goals in 10 appearances for them. Those numbers are not bad at all. Especially for someone who doesn’t play regularly.
Is Guiu unhappy at Chelsea?
Recent reports surfacing suggest that the 18-year-old is unhappy in London. The reason is his lack of involvement on the field. Although before pointing any fingers, we must understand that Enzo Maresca and Chelsea are both a little helpless in this situation. Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku have been in stunning form this season. They are in a competition of their own to earn a place into the starting XI. In such a situation, finding place for Marc Guiu becomes even more difficult. But he is still young and doing the right thing by improving and providing some much needed competition up front. Hopefully he will start for the Blues very soon.
