For the past six years, Manchester United has been searching for a defensive midfielder, and Marcelo Brozovic could be the answer. According to InterLive, Inter Milan is facing three challenges in renewing Brozovic’s contract.
The first stumbling block is Inter Milan’s unwillingness to meet Brozovic’s demand of 6 million net per season. They’d rather close it at a net profit of roughly 5 million per season. The second stumbling block is the competition among clubs for Brozovic’s signing. Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur are some of the big clubs that are pursuing Brozovic. Manchester United, on the other hand, is in severe need of a defensive midfielder, as evidenced by their recent results. Brozovic’s commissions are just another stumbling block that these major teams can overcome.
Manchester United is forced to look for a defensive midfielder in the transfer market due to inconsistent performances from Fred and McTominay.
Why do Manchester United want Brozovic?
Manchester United are in urgent need of a defensive midfielder more than ever. The 28-year-old midfielder, Brozovic can solve most of United’s problems in the midfield which were quite evident. His experience at the top level can prove to be detrimental and also give United an edge over their opponents.
Manchester United also wants Brozovic since he will be a free agent in a few months and they will be able to sign him for nothing. They’ll have to look at the salaries and commissions but a club like Manchester United can comfortably handle that.
The signing of Ronaldo has added even more pressure to succeed and Brozovic can help ease that pressure. Brozovic will also make players around him better like Paul Pogba. Knowing that the defence is well guarded, he can contribute more to the attack.
Brozovic would be a perfect match for Manchester United and he must be signed in January. On the other hand, he only has a few years left and should be replaced properly. If they fail to do this they might face this tough situation again and start to struggle.
The signing of Brozovic also depends on the events in the managerial role for Manchester United. Although, he is a player that any manager would be lucky to have.
